Leading The Way.
He may be newer to the Farmers & Merchants Bank team, but Larry’s entire professional career over many decades has been in the financial services industry.
Starting at age 19, he rose through the ranks of the federal student loan industry and led financial services teams at renowned companies that include Nelnet, Dell and Cabela’s. His positions of leadership have helped evolving businesses gain new perspectives.
Even with all of this complex knowledge, Larry has a simple philosophy: “Do the right thing, and do what you enjoy. When you cover these bases, everything else has a way of falling into place.”
In his role as compliance officer at the Bank, he focuses on integrating customer service, operations and regulatory compliance. Even though a lot of the work he does is behind the scenes, Larry does get the opportunity to work directly with many of our customers. “It is a great way to learn about them as people, and to learn more about the communities we serve,” he says.
Rolling Up His Sleeves.
Having recently moved to Milford area, Larry is on the lookout for opportunities to get more involved. Like most of the Bank employees, he’s eager to roll up his sleeves and serve the community with his time and talents. Larry enjoys getting a chance to work alongside friends and family, as his wife is originally from Utica, Nebraska.
Although you’d never know it from his outgoing personality, Larry acknowledges being an introvert. “I draw my energy from the time I spend alone. I’m notorious for getting up very early on the weekends and sitting alone in my dark living room—just me, myself and a cup of coffee.”
