Senior Vice President Officer Manager
Striking a Smart Balance.
When it comes to something as life changing as a loan, Tom Uden believes there’s more to the process than crunching numbers and asking people to sign on the dotted line. In fact, Tom approaches business with a simple philosophy: make the loan process easier to understand while helping customers reach their goals along the way.
Over the last 16 years, Tom has helped serve the Bank’s customers with a can-do attitude that goes all in, all the time. Whether it’s aiding the Wilber location’s internal operations or explaining financial documents, Tom keeps the customer at the forefront. It’s about making sure they’re taken care of.
Tom notes the Bank’s smart balance between offering the technological perks of a large financial institution while staying focused on relationships and rural communities in southeast Nebraska. “We’re still small enough to still be personal and responsive with customers,” he says, adding that the Bank incorporates the latest technology and products whenever possible.
A proud graduate of the University of Nebraska-Lincoln, Tom holds a Bachelor of Science degree in Agronomy and Ag Economics. Before his time at Farmers & Merchants Bank, he worked as a farm manager in Hays, Kansas with the Farmers National Company, followed by 12 years of experience in the banking industry.
Building Strong Relationships.
Tom not only builds strong relationships with Bank customers. Between staying busy with the latest project in his workshop, he enjoys spending time with his family and whipping up a good home cooked meal. He also serves as a member of the Crete Berean Church’s finance team and makes sure to find time to root for his son and grandsons whenever they play ball.
