Scammers are impersonating trusted bank representatives to convince customers to authorize wire transfers. They then send a link to a fraudulent questionnaire designed to capture sensitive information, including bank account details and other personal data. With this information, they can gain unauthorized access to your account and initiate fraudulent transactions.
How to Protect Yourself
- Trust your instincts. If something feels off, it probably is.
- Know the red flags. Farmers & Merchants Bank will never ask for your banking credentials over the phone or ask you to complete a questionnaire.
- When in doubt, hang up. Even if the caller ID shows a local number. Scammers can disguise their true number.
